ABSTRACT:

The experimetnal investigation is conducted to generate comparative equilibrium data for solvents (Benzene xylene kerosene) for acetic acid-water system. Thus required data for tie line and binomial curve were gathered for system Acet aid- water - sylene Acetic -acid-water-kerosence Two types of packing are used for liquid-liquid extraction. Application of these two paking with same solvents has been discussed. Triangular diagrams for each system and various compostition have been presented. The results are used to find percentage of acetic acid inextract phase, number of transfer units, height of transfer units and mass transfer coeffiecient for extract and raffinate phase.Comparing all these parameters for different solvents and each packing indicates the overall results.

KEYWORDS:

Mass transfer coefficeint; number of transfer units; height of transer units beri saddle and star ring
