ABSTRACT:We have predicted the phase transition pressure and corresponding relative volume change of LuSb having NaCl type structure under high pressure using three body interaction potential approaches (TBIPA). The potential model is consisting of long range columbic, three body interaction forces, short range overlap repulsive forces operative up to next neighbor ions and short-range van der Walls interaction with zero point energy effects. We have obtained phase transition and relative volume change, which are in close agreement with experimental approach. Thus TBIPA is promising with respect to the prediction of transition pressure and stability of rare earth compounds.
