Dr. Alokmay Datta is Senior Professor and Head in Surface Physics and Materials Science Division at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, India. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Physics in the year 1989 from Calcutta University, Kolkata. He had been a Postdoctoral Fellow of National Science Foundation, Northwestern University, USA (1998-2000). He was a visiting Professor in Japan Society for Promotion of Science, Kyoto University, Japan (2008-09). He has been awarded as Eminent Materials Scientist of the Year at Institute of Engineers (India) in 2010. He won Medal Lecturer, Materials Research Society of India in the year 2014. He was also a visiting Professor at MATériaux, InterfaceS, Surfaces, Environnement (MATISSE), University Pierre et Marie Curie in 2014. He has published more than 100 articles in reputed international journals. He also published a book entitled “Structural and Morphological Evolution in Metal-Organic Films and Multilayers” in Taylor and Francis. He is a Life Member of Indian Crystallography Association, Indian Physics Association (Kolkata Chapter), Indian Physical Society, Materials Research Society of India (Kolkata Chapter) – Vice Chair (till 2014), Bangiya Vigyan Parishad, Asiatic Society, West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology-Fellow.
